Hello and welcome to my website! I’ve enjoyed playing with LEGO ever since I was a small child, and have loved collecting and creating minifigure characters and writing stories for them. I’ve always seen minifigures as the “ultimate action figures,” because you can customize them in any way you want and then build vehicles, animals, and environments for them to interact with. Since adulthood, I’ve found that my way to continue “playing” with them has been taking photographs of them and sharing them on my social medias. This is the first time I’ve ever done anything like this, but I wanted to create a place seperate from Instagram or Facebook where I could show off some of the pictures that I’ve taken and experiment with some ideas that I’ve been having about them. First, in the next few weeks I’m planning to start a medieval fantasy themed web comic on this site. I’m not 100% sure how I’m going to make that work out, but I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. I will also be writing blog posts about certain pictures that I take that have stories behind them, such as where I took them, how I took them, or how hard it was to create the image.
For example, this picture of some adventuring pirates was possibly one of the most difficult pictures I’ve ever taken in my life. My family and I were exploring a state park in Eastern Washington that just happened to have a shallow river running through it and I just happend to have my pirates with me! After gathering my photography gear I brought everything down to the shore to work on getting the perfect shot. It ended up taking about 20 minutes. I had to find a good place to take the photo where it was flat enough for the minifigures to stand on their own, had shallow enough water to host the rowboat, and had deep enough water to make the pirate ship in the background look like it wasn’t beached, all the while not getting myself drenched during setup for the long drive home (we were about three hours from Seattle, and we lived even further north of that!). I ended up propping the ship up on some rocks because when I left it by itself it not only began to take on water but it was quite obviously sinking in the photo. I also had to dig the minifigure’s feet into the rocky sand to get them to stand upright on their own without falling over. Then I messed up on the filter when I posted it and made the yellow skin on the female and rowboat pirates look distored. This definitely wasn’t one of my best photos that I’ve ever taken, but I do have to say it IS one of my favorites because of the work I put in to get one of the best shots I ever have!
This is another photo that I’m really proud of for several reasons. I took it on a family trip to California, but this was at Cannon Beach on the way down. Cannon Beach is one of the most photogenic places I have ever had the pleasure to visit. The truck pictured is a MOC (my own creation for those outside of the LEGO community, which basically means that this isn’t a set you can buy from a store. I built it using the parts I had available to me and my imagination!) and one of my favorite ones I’ve designed! Plus, before taking the picture I pushed it downwards into the sand and “drove” it forward a bit so that there would be wet sand grains stuck to the wheels and tracks from the treads. This made it look like it was driving on it’s own in the sand for a distance!
I’m excited to start this new adventure with this website and I hope you all enjoy what I bring to it!
